Equilibrium decided that one of the best ways to build a wide base of support for environmental causes is to use the powerful medium of film to spread awareness and inspire action.

The Green Caravan Film Festival took off in 2009 to help encourage the production and enjoyment of important films that can change the world. GCFF also brought together NGOs, private companies, educational institutions and the public during the festival in order to foster stronger relationships between them all.

The first season was hosted by Dar Alathar Al Islamiya and was sponsored by Gulf Bank, KDD, Agility, HRInvest, MNS Advisory and NREC.
